As im sure you are all aware, Prime Minister K Rudd has had a major crackdown on binge drinking within Australia post federal election. With that, he introduced a rise in tax for pre-mixed drinks ( yes, your beloved cruisers, breezers and splices etc) to combat underage drinking.
Following the topic quite closely at BB we have for you a new twist within the entwined world of the government vs alcohol manufactures- that is the formation of the all new Wine-o-pops!!!
Whilst in our view, incredibly stupid for alcoholic manufactures to even dream of taking on the Australian government, wine companies have already developed a range of pops to hit stores within the coming weeks.
Australian Heath Minister Nicola Roxon promises to crack down hard on anyone who tries to offend the new campaign, saying that "the government will keep a keen eye on anyone who tries to duck and weave around the law."
The new Wine-o-pops with an alcohol content of 8% ( approx 3% higher than alcho-pops) are said to be the new craze amongst teens which will be sure to overstep any progress that our society had made since the anti-binge drinking campaign.
So what are your thoughts on the issue?
Would you buy these new wine-o-pops for the sake of a cheap fix for alcohol?
Do you agree with the Federal Government and their interest in battling binge drinking?
