Natalie travels the globe as part of her job as a reporter on Getaway. A Gold Coast girl who followed her heart and believed in her dreams, she is motivated by other young women who have achieved their goals and overcome adversity. Passionate about life and looking after the planet, she loves people who take risks, are true to themselves and show compassion.

Who was your role model/s when you were a teen?
My mum is my role model, she passed away last year, but is with me everyday.

How did your role model/s help you?
My mum taught me to embrace life and to take responsibility for my actions and that we always have choices.

What role or influence do you think role models have?
Role models help define your path and guide you by setting examples and encouraging growth.

What were some of the issues you faced as a teen?
Peer group pressure and normal adolescent insecurities.

How did you overcome these issues?
By speaking with people who I trusted and believing in myself.

What do you remember most about being a teen?
What I learnt most about being a teenager is that no one is perfect and it's ok to make mistakes.

What qualities do you think you possess that has helped you succeed in your chosen field?
Grateful, motivated, tenacious and humble.

Outside of career success, what is it that you are most proud of?
My relationship with my family and friends.

Do you undertake activities to help others/community?
I support and am an ambassador for Canteen - a charity organisation offering incredible support to young people living with, and directly and indirectly, affected by cancer. I am also part of the "Girls Get Out There" day at Billabong.

Your advice to youths about realising their own potential...
Understand the importance of good self esteem as opposed to ego. Like and respect yourself.

When it comes to how you live your life, what are the most important factors/values?
I value my close relationships with people who make me want to be a better person. I think it important in life to never stop learning or discovering things about yourself. Spiritual awareness for yourself and this planet is always an ongoing journey.

Why do you think you make a good role model?
Because I am not perfect and I'm willing to learn alongside others and share life experiences
