I have a problem that I just do not know how to fix. My best friend, who I have known since primary school, keeps copying my style. She often buys things I have bought or simply tries to beat me to it before I can save the money. Not only that, she takes my clothes and never returns them and never ever cleans them after she has worn them! How do I tell her to back off and shop for her own stuff without making it too awkward?
Love Ally!:)
Hey Ally
Trust me! We have all had that friend. Firstly, understand that being best friends means you have similar interests and perhaps she sees your style as a quality in you that she admires.
It doesn't help that all the mainstream stores make a thousand and one copies of their clothes which ultimately means everyone has the same clothes anyway! My suggestion is that you let her down gently. Explain that you like the clothes you buy because they make YOU an individual. As for borrowing of the clothes, tell her you need it back ASAP for a function you are attending, or perhaps tell her she needs to be more prepared. Next time you go shopping together maybe be a little more discreet with the must-have dress you are intending to buy!
At the end of the day she is your best friend! A little heart to heart on the code of conduct of shopping should not get in the way of your friendship!
